Helen Rousseau works predominantly in drawing, sculpture and installation. Consideration of the nature of dialogue and exchange has framed recent projects pointing to a developing relational activity within her practice.

The 1% concept - Object dialogues

In response to the 1% concept, the Object dialogues explore nonverbal and non-written dialogue, initially through the exchange of objects between Helen Rousseau and Marcel Rousseau, over a period of one year.

A conversation/exchange between Caroline Wright, Phyllida Barlow, George Szirtes and Helen Rousseau resulting in the generation of dialogues, text, poetry, drawings, performance based works, video and animation. This project examines, among other things, the relationships between visual and written material and the conversation as a performance and space of possibility. This project is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
